Quality & data provenance

Every dimension we publish names the standard it comes from and whether we have confirmed it. This page includes the parts we have not.

What “verified” means here

A value is marked verified only when it has been read from the standard and confirmed against at least one independent published source — typically a manufacturer's own datasheet. One reading can be a mis-parsed table column; two independent sources agreeing cannot. Anything short of that is marked provisional, and a provisional value never claims full confidence in a cross-reference result.

  • The spring RATE tables are incomplete for the red and yellow classes. Until they are confirmed we publish no load figure and no STEP file for springs — a spring with the wrong rate destroys a tool.
  • Deflection figures for red (30 %) and yellow (25 %) come from a manufacturer catalogue, not yet from the standard itself.

  • Coupling bodies, valves and seals are vendor designs — there is no standard to transcribe. Geometry will come from supplier data once qualification completes.
Why the standard number matters

We previously listed guide elements under ISO 9448. That series is Tools for pressing — press die sets — and all eleven of its parts are guide bushes; it has no pillar part at all. The mould standards are ISO 8017 and ISO 8018. We found this by checking the ISO catalogue rather than inferring from the subject matter, and corrected the data. It is the kind of thing this page exists to record.

We diff our published data against manufacturers' own datasheets and report the result, including where we disagree.

The two die-spring disagreements are load values where the maker's catalogue departs from the standard by more than the ±10 % the standard allows. Our readings check out arithmetically against the standard's own force column, so we publish neither figure.

Where our CAD comes from

Every model is generated from the parameters above by our own geometry engine. We do not redistribute anyone else's CAD files, and no model on this site is derived from one. That is why we can produce a size no catalogue lists — the model is computed, not retrieved.

Files are STEP AP242 with the precision faces colour-coded, so your CAM system reads which surfaces need reaming rather than inferring it. The same colours appear in the 3D preview on every product page.

What we will not do

  • Publish a load, hardness or fit figure we have not confirmed.
  • Ship a CAD file whose geometry is representative rather than dimensionally right — we withhold it and say so.
  • Guess a part number. Where a designation is ambiguous we return every option rather than picking one.
